Religion - 6th Grade

In this course, we will spend the majority of our time studying the life of Christ - the "Christ Event".  Our primary source will be the Gospel According to St. Matthew, but we will frequently refer to other supporting Scripture.

We will explore how Matthew’s original audience would have understood his writing by learning about the culture of ancient Palestine.  With the help of the Holy Spirit, this will enable us to better understand what Scripture means to us today.  Emphasis will be on the Lutheran understanding of Law and Gospel, and how we are made right before God by faith alone in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.

We will also write a song and perform it as part of a Chapel service that we will lead.

We will discuss differences between Lutheranism and other Christian denominations/Religions from time to time. Emphasis will be on why we as Lutherans believe what we believe.  Criticism of those who are not affiliated with the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod will not be a part of this course.
